Over a decade ago, I searched a Christian bookstore for a beach read. You know, the type of novel or novella collection you take to the sea or to the lake where you read about beachy settings, cabins, or boat rides while relaxing in the sand. I didn't find anything that day. So, I decided to write something.
Soon, I asked a few other authors to join me in a compilation of novellas set on the coast. Our project didn't get picked up. So I decided to expand the book I'd written into a short novel. That didn't get picked up. Once again, I decided to expand my story into a full-length novel. Perhaps it could be the first in a series. The books would all be set on Puget Sound, each containing a beachy setting, flawed characters, and HEAs.
I reached out to Miralee Ferrell at Mountain Brook Ink, she liked the writing, and that's how Finding Love in Friday Harbor was born! Just this summer, I went into the library looking for a beach read. Didn't find anything.
